Bobi Wine Missing: Ugandan Minister Claims Opposition Leader Is Hiding in Nairobi

Uganda's leading opposition figure, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, remains in hiding, with even his family unaware of his current location.

However, Hon. Balaam Ateenyi Barugahara, Uganda’s Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, has made a startling claim that Bobi Wine is currently in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital.

Speaking on a radio program, Balaam stated,

“Bobi Wine is hiding in Nairobi, but I advise him: he’s a good leader, and I believe he can contribute to Uganda’s development if he comes and joins President Museveni’s government in an official capacity.”

The minister suggested that Bobi Wine’s creative ideas could help transform Uganda if he were to stop opposing President Yoweri Museveni.

So far, Bobi Wine has not responded to these allegations regarding his location, and cooperation with the government seems unlikely.

If the claims are true and he is indeed in Nairobi, attention will turn to whether Ugandan and Kenyan security agencies might coordinate to bring him back.

This comes after a similar incident in November 2024, when another opposition leader, Dr. Kizza Besigye, was reportedly abducted from Kenya.
