Buuri Member of Parliament Hon. Mugambi Rindikiri was on Wednesday involved in a road accident at the Siraji area in Timau along the busy Meru–Nanyuki Road.
Reports indicate that the MP was rushing to Meru town to represent his constituents at Kinoru Stadium, where President William Ruto is expected to launch the NYOTA Start-Up Capital Fund.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred after Rindikiri’s vehicle collided head-on with another car along the highway. The exact cause of the crash is yet to be established, with investigators working to determine which of the two vehicles may have been on the wrong side of the road.
Both vehicles were damaged in the incident, and the occupants reportedly sustained minor injuries. They were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention, where doctors confirmed that their condition was stable.
The accident temporarily disrupted traffic along the Meru–Nanyuki Road as authorities worked to clear the wreckage and restore normal movement.
The incident happened just hours before President William Ruto’s scheduled visit to Meru County. The president is set to preside over the NYOTA Start-Up Capital Fund launch for Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi counties at Kinoru Stadium.
The NYOTA Fund is a government initiative aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs by providing affordable start-up capital, promoting youth-led businesses, and boosting job creation at the grassroots level.
