CS Alice Wahome Dismisses Rumors of Uhuru Kenyatta Running for President Again

Hon. Alice Wahome, Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development, has downplayed speculation that former President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta might seek the presidency again following his retirement.

Speaking publicly, CS Wahome called the claims “completely unfounded” and emphasized that the Constitution of Kenya prohibits a former president who has served two terms from running for office again.

“Some people have started speculating that Uhuru Kenyatta will run for president. Let me assure you that after serving his ten years in office, he has no prospect of running for reelection or challenging Hon. William Ruto, his successor,” Wahome stated.

She urged Kenyans to respect Uhuru Kenyatta’s retirement and reject baseless rumors, noting that the former Head of State had faithfully completed his constitutional tenure and deserves the nation’s appreciation for his service.

The statement was made during a recent speech where CS Wahome reaffirmed that the country’s constitutional provisions are clear regarding presidential eligibility.
