IG Kanja Under Fire After His Officers Were Spotted Escorting Goons to Cause Mayhem During Political Meeting

On Thursday, Kenyans were shocked after a few police officers were caught on camera escorting goons armed with weapons to cause mayhem ahead a political meeting hosted by the former Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua.

The video quickly went viral on social media, raising concerns about the role of law enforcement in maintaining peace.

Taking to his X account, Gachagua questioned the Inspector General of Police, asking why such actions could be allowed in the country.

He revealed that President William Ruto had clearly instructed that officers should not be seen walking with goons.

"Why are the officers moving around with thugs while the president has instructed otherwise?" Gachagua asked, calling for accountability.

Gachagua also added that the goons’ mission was to harass residents on the streets ahead of his political meeting in Nyeri County.

He condemned the act strongly, saying, "This is unacceptable. Citizens should be safe and not live in fear because of politics."

The incident has sparked debate online about police conduct and political intimidation in the country.
