A video of a Kenyan lady explaining how she is being mistreated by her Oman boss has touched the hearts of many Kenyans.
In the video, Ann Makoha, the victim, revealed that she left Kenya hoping to improve her family’s life, but things took a terrible turn when she arrived in Oman. Instead of the safe and fair working conditions she expected, Ann said she faced extreme abuse and cruelty from her employer.
Speaking during a live stream on TikTok, Ann described how her boss forces her to do too much work, denies her food, and subjected her to horrifying acts, including being forced to open her mouth to have urine poured in it. The story shocked many viewers and sparked widespread outrage online.
Ann also revealed that her boss physically beats her for no reason. She said her desperate calls for help from Kenya have gone unanswered, leaving her feeling trapped and hopeless. She expressed deep fear and uncertainty about when—or if—she would ever return home to her family.
She further explained that her boss openly told her she would die in Oman without seeing her family again. In her plea, Ann urged the Kenyan government to intervene and rescue her from what she described as modern-day slavery. She asked for immediate action to protect other Kenyans who might be suffering similar abuse abroad.
This distressing revelation comes amid growing concerns about the treatment of Kenyan domestic workers in some foreign countries.
Human rights groups have often highlighted cases of abuse, unpaid salaries, and harsh working conditions that leave workers vulnerable and traumatized.
Ann’s story is a stark reminder of the risks faced by many Kenyans working abroad. Her courage in speaking out has drawn attention to the urgent need for stronger protections, proper oversight, and faster government response to cases of abuse.
Many Kenyans online have expressed sympathy and demanded swift action to ensure Ann’s safe return home.
