“Kahiga Played His Cards Right” — Gachagua’s DCP Party Congratulates Nyeri Governor for Refusing to Declare His Stance on Two-Term Bid During UDA Event

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga found himself in an uncomfortable situation during a recent UDA grassroots event held in Nyeri County. During the meeting, leaders allied to UDA reportedly pushed him to openly declare his position on President William Ruto’s two-term agenda.

However, the governor chose to remain silent on the matter and avoided taking a clear public stand. His response, or lack of it, immediately sparked political debate both online and within local political circles.

Following the incident, the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), which is associated with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has come out to praise Governor Kahiga. The party described him as a clever and experienced politician who knows how to play his cards right.

According to DCP, by refusing to publicly say that President Ruto must serve two terms, Kahiga sent a strong hidden message.

They argued that his silence shows that he does not fully support the president’s re-election plans, despite appearing to cooperate on the surface.

In a statement, the DCP Party explained that politics is all about survival, timing, and strategy. They said leaders must always be careful with their words, especially during highly charged political events.

The party further claimed that Governor Kahiga had previously supported President William Ruto mainly to protect himself during the impeachment threats that once faced him.

According to DCP, that support was not out of loyalty, but a smart move to survive politically at the time.

The party added that Kahiga’s recent move proves he understands the changing political landscape and is slowly repositioning himself ahead of the 2027 general elections.

By avoiding a public declaration at the UDA event, the governor kept his options open and avoided offending either side of the political divide.

As the battle for political influence in the Mount Kenya region continues to take shape, Governor Kahiga’s actions show that many leaders are now choosing caution over open confrontation. His silence may speak louder than words in the days to come.
