Kisumu County ODM delegates have unanimously endorsed the resolutions passed by the party’s Central Committee during its recent meeting in Kilifi, affirming their full support for Dr Oburu Odinga as he engages the Kenya Kwanza administration through President William Ruto.
Speaking after a consultative meeting in Kisumu, the delegates described the Kilifi resolutions as timely and strategic, noting that they reflect the broader aspirations of ODM supporters across the country.
They emphasized that the party’s decision to pursue structured engagement with the government is aimed at safeguarding the interests of its supporters while strengthening national cohesion.
The delegates said Dr Oburu Odinga, a senior ODM leader and respected statesman, enjoys their complete confidence to articulate the party’s position during engagements with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
According to them, his experience in governance and deep understanding of national politics place him in a strong position to advance ODM’s agenda without compromising its core values.
“Kisumu County stands firmly behind the Central Committee resolutions and fully supports Dr Oburu Odinga in his engagement with President Ruto,” said one delegate. “This process is about dialogue, not betrayal. It is about ensuring that the voices of our people are heard at the highest level.”
The delegates further stated that the Kilifi meeting underscored ODM’s commitment to peaceful politics, issue-based engagement, and inclusive development.
They noted that engagement with the government does not dilute the party’s role as a watchdog but instead provides an opportunity to push for reforms, equitable resource distribution, and development projects that benefit ordinary citizens.
At the same time, Kisumu leaders cautioned against misinformation and internal divisions, urging party members to rally behind the leadership and trust established party structures. They called on ODM supporters to remain united and patient as consultations continue.
The endorsement from Kisumu County adds to growing support for the Kilifi resolutions, signaling a possible new phase in ODM’s political strategy as the party navigates engagement with President Ruto’s administration while maintaining its identity and support base.
