Lydia Wanjiru Reveals How Supporting Her Boyfriend’s Family Left Her Exhausted and Heartbroken

Content creator Lydia Wanjiru has opened up about a relationship that left her tired, drained, and questioning love.

In a long and honest story, Lydia shared how she did too much for a man who gave very little back.
She explained that everything began in January 2017, when she was dating her boyfriend and the two were living together. They had agreed to split household bills equally, including rent, food, and other expenses.

However, Lydia says her responsibilities went far beyond household contributions. At one point, she traveled to Nakuru to help her boyfriend’s sister return to school, paying her school fees and buying her shopping items despite not being married into the family.

At the same time, she says she was also sending money to his mother regularly.

“I was sending his mum money every month, sometimes every week,” Lydia revealed, explaining that the money was meant to help her manage household needs.

What hurt her most, she says, is that while she was supporting his family financially, her boyfriend was not generous toward her.

“I was paying bills at home and still supporting his family,” she said, adding that the burden became overwhelming.
Lydia explained that she tried her best to be supportive, submissive, and understanding.
“I did everything,” she said.

“If supporting a man was the key to marriage, I would be first in line.”
She also shared a painful dating experience, recalling how one of their “dates” ended up being a trip to a supermarket.

“I was taken to Naivas,” she said, noting that she paid for the food herself before they sat at the café area inside the supermarket.

According to Lydia, even when she requested proper dates, nothing changed. She says forcing outings with someone who does not care often means paying for everything including food, transport, and even matatu fare.
