Speaking during an interview with Talks Extra, a woman named Brighet Yaro shared the painful story she went through in her marriage before finally leaving it.
Yaro revealed that she used to work as a sex worker in Nairobi, where she met a handsome man who was one of her clients. After their first encounter, they exchanged phone numbers and continued talking for some time. Eventually, they went on a date and decided to get married.
At first, Yaro thought marriage would bring her a new beginning and a better life. However, things took a deadly turn after she gave birth to three children.
She explained that her husband began mistreating her, even bringing other women into their home and being intimate with them in front of her and the children. Whenever she tried to speak up, she was beaten.
The situation grew unbearable, and Yaro eventually confided in her mother about the abuse. Her mother advised her to leave the marriage for the sake of herself and her children. Following her mother’s advice, Yaro left the home, taking her children with her.
Left with limited options, Yaro returned to her former work as a sex worker to support herself and her children. She described the experience as painful but necessary to survive and provide for her family.
