Nairobi County Official Moves to Stop Fake Witch Doctors Operating in the City

Nairobi County official Geoffrey Mosiria has taken firm action against what he describes as the growing problem of fake witch doctors operating freely within the capital. According to Mosiria, the situation has been getting worse, forcing county authorities to finally step in.

Mosiria said he acted after receiving numerous complaints from Nairobi residents who claimed they had been deceived and scammed by people pretending to offer supernatural solutions to life problems. He noted that many residents approached the county after losing their hard-earned money to these individuals.

“Following numerous complaints from city residents, we have noticed a worrying increase in so-called witch doctors advertising their services across Nairobi,” Mosiria stated.

He explained that these people make bold promises of instant wealth, love, healing, success, or quick solutions to personal problems, only to disappear after taking money from unsuspecting victims.

According to Mosiria, many victims are desperate individuals looking for help during difficult times. He said such operators take advantage of people’s emotional and financial struggles, leaving them poorer and more distressed than before.

Apart from scamming residents, Mosiria raised concern about the negative effect of these advertisements on the city’s appearance. He pointed out that most of the adverts are illegally placed on walls, electricity poles, road signs, and other public structures. This, he said, is destroying Nairobi’s beauty and making the city look disorderly.

“What makes the situation worse is the careless way these posters are placed everywhere, interfering with the aesthetic beauty of our city,” Mosiria said. He added that Nairobi cannot be allowed to look chaotic because of illegal posters plastered across public spaces.

To address the issue, Mosiria issued a firm warning to those involved. He stated that anyone claiming to offer legitimate services must follow the law like any other business in Nairobi. This includes applying for a unified business permit and going through proper licensing and regulatory procedures.

Mosiria emphasized that the county government will not hesitate to take action against those who fail to comply with the law, as efforts continue to protect residents and restore order in the city.
