Parents Protest at St. Bhakita Chuka Girls’ High School, Demand Removal of Principal Joan Muchena

Parents of St. Bhakita Chuka Girls’ High School staged a protest, demanding the immediate removal of Principal Joan Muchena.

The march began at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Director’s office before moving to the school grounds, where parents voiced grievances with determination.

They accuse the principal of physically assaulting a teacher, an act that has instilled fear among staff and damaged the school’s reputation.

Parents also allege that whenever concerns are raised in their WhatsApp group, the principal orders closure, silencing voices and blocking communication.

Another complaint is the unusually high rate of teacher transfers, which parents believe has disrupted learning and denied students stability in their education.

Concerns have emerged about reports that students are compelled to bow before a religious statue, a practice many parents view as inappropriate and against their beliefs.

During the protest, parents carried placards and chanted slogans, insisting the principal must leave office for the sake of their children’s welfare.

The parents have vowed to continue pressing for action until the TSC responds to their concerns.

They say education should be a safe space where teachers are respected, students are free from coercion, and parents are allowed to participate in school matters without intimidation.

Community leaders have urged dialogue to resolve the matter peacefully while safeguarding students’ interests.
