Police Arrest Nurse Following Death of Her Three Children in Mlolongo Home

Detectives have arrested a nurse after three young children were found dead in a tragic domestic incident in Mlolongo, Machakos County.

The suspect, identified as Lynet Munala, was taken into custody by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations attached to Mlolongo Police Station following preliminary investigations.

The incident occurred at the family’s residence in Mlolongo Phase Three, where the woman lived with her husband and their children.

Police said alarm was raised after a neighbour was alerted to check on the children, leading to the discovery of the bodies inside the house.

Officers who responded to the scene found the lifeless bodies of one-year-old twin girls lying on a bed, while their four-year-old brother was found in a separate sleeping area.

Initial findings suggest the children may have consumed food laced with a toxic substance. Investigators recovered items believed to contain poison, suspected to have been mixed with porridge prepared in the house.

The scene showed signs of disturbance, with food left uneaten and household items scattered across the floor.

Residents told police that the family had reportedly been experiencing ongoing domestic disagreements, which could have contributed to the tragedy.

Authorities said the suspect allegedly informed a neighbour to check on the children after the incident, prompting an immediate police response.

The bodies were transferred to the City Mortuary, where postmortem examinations will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.

Police confirmed that the suspect is currently being held at Mlolongo Police Station as investigations continue ahead of her arraignment in court.

Officers urged members of the public facing emotional or domestic distress to seek professional support and avoid resorting to violence.

The case has renewed calls for greater mental health awareness and early intervention in family conflicts.
