Shock and grief have gripped residents of Angurai in Teso North Sub-county, Busia County, following the death of a well-known police officer, found lifeless in her rented home on Wednesday morning.
The officer, affectionately known among colleagues as “Solo,” was serving at Ahero Police Station in Nyando Sub-county, Kisumu County.
According to police reports, the tragic discovery was made around 11:00 a.m. after a concerned colleague, who had been unable to reach her by phone, raised the alarm. The colleague noted that it was unusual for her to go unanswered, as they had been in regular contact and had spoken just the day before.
Sources revealed that during their last conversation, the officer had confided about personal challenges and the stress she was experiencing due to unresolved domestic matters. While she shared her struggles, there were no indications that she was in immediate danger.
After repeated failed attempts to reach her, other officers visited her residence, where they found her body. Authorities suspect the death may have been a suicide, though investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances.
The officer’s body was taken to a local mortuary, and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have begun inquiries.
Officers are expected to speak to family members, neighbors, and colleagues to gather more information about the events leading to her death.
The community has been left in mourning, and police continue to investigate the incident to provide clarity and support to those affected.
