"UDA is Finished," Top Politician Alleges, Reveals Why Ruto's Party Depends on ODM Ahead of 2027

Speaking during a morning interview with a local radio station, Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo claimed that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has lost influence across the country.

He said the party is “finished” and no longer as strong as it used to be.

According to Maanzo, UDA’s popularity has dropped, and it faces serious challenges in keeping its members united ahead of the 2027 general election.

However, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa dismissed the claims made by the senator. Ichungwa argued that UDA is still a powerful party and remains one of the strongest political forces in the country.

He said, “People should not be fooled by opinions; UDA continues to grow and has a strong presence in several regions.”

He insisted that the party still commands respect and support among Kenyans.

On the other hand, Dan Maanzo explained that UDA’s troubles began the moment former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was impeached and removed from the party.

He noted that this event marked a turning point, particularly in the Central region where UDA had significant influence.

Maanzo said, “UDA’s strength in the central part of the country was largely because of Gachagua. Losing him affected the party deeply and reduced its credibility among voters.”

The senator added that for UDA to secure a political future, it is now depending on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

He revealed that it was not ODM that sought UDA’s partnership, but rather UDA that approached ODM to work together.

According to Maanzo, this shows how the party is trying to regain its footing by relying on alliances with other strong political groups ahead of the next election.
