Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti has once again issued a stern warning to former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, urging him to be careful and not allow himself to be shortchanged by United Opposition partners ahead of the nomination of the coalition’s flagbearer.
Speaking during the launch of a youth program in Machakos County, the vocal governor emphasized that the region will not accept anything less than Kalonzo becoming the United Opposition flagbearer ahead of the 2027 general elections.
"Na Mimi Nataka Kuambia Kalonzo, Sisi Kama Watu Wa Ukambani Tunataka Kukuona Kwa Debe. Story Mingi Hatutaki Kwa Sababu Huu Ni Wakati Wetu. Kwa Hivyo Kuchangana Sana Na Hao Watu," she said, urging unity and full backing for Kalonzo.
Governor Ndeti added that if Kalonzo is chosen as the flagbearer, the people of Ukambani will campaign for him from every corner of the county, arguing that he is the only candidate capable of stopping Ruto from securing a second term.
"Nikiangalia pale. Ni Kalonzo Tu Anaeza Shida Ruto. Na Sisi Tutampigia Debe," she stated.
The remarks come amid growing political maneuvering within United Opposition as the coalition positions itself for the 2027 elections.
Kalonzo’s supporters in Ukambani have consistently emphasized the need for the region to unify behind a single candidate to maximize electoral influence.
