A woman from Nairobi has come forward with a disturbing story after discovering that her husband, who presented himself as a pastor, was allegedly involved in staging fake miracles to deceive members of the public.
Agnes Njiru, a trained nurse and single mother, said she met the man on Facebook, where he claimed to be a widower from Ruiru raising three children.
According to her, he appeared responsible, religious, and serious about marriage. After involving family members to verify his background, the two got married only weeks after meeting.
However, the marriage quickly turned into a nightmare. Njiru revealed that the man became controlling and emotionally abusive soon after the wedding. She claimed he constantly belittled her and pressured her to stay silent about what she described as his fraudulent church activities.
She further alleged that her husband took full control of their finances, misused wedding contributions, and failed to support basic household needs. He also reportedly barred her from attending church or speaking to religious leaders about their marital problems.
After enduring the situation for just one month, Njiru decided to walk away from the marriage. The situation worsened when she later discovered that he had accused her of being a bigamist in an attempt to tarnish her name.
Njiru says her experience is a warning to other women, especially those who meet partners online. She urged people to remain cautious and to be wary of individuals who use religion and faith to manipulate trust for personal benefit.
