Speaking during an interview with tuko.co.ke, a heartbroken Kenyan mother, Marry Wanjiru, shared a painful story of betrayal that has left her family suffering. Marry said her life changed after trusting a close friend from Nakuru, a decision she now deeply regrets.
According to her, the woman she trusted completely ruined the future of her son, who had just graduated from university and was full of hope.
In her emotional statement, Marry explained that the tragedy came at a time when she was already broken. She said she was still mourning the death of her younger son, who sadly passed away last year in August after completing Grade 8.
As she struggled with grief, her friend approached her with what seemed like good news. The woman claimed she had found a well-paying job opportunity in Thailand for Marry’s eldest son, who had finished his studies and was looking for work.
Marry said the woman took full control of the travel process. She promised to arrange everything, including travel documents and clearance papers.
Trusting her friend, Marry agreed. Within a few days, all arrangements were made, and her son traveled to Thailand, hopeful for a new beginning.
However, their dreams were shattered immediately upon arrival. Marry revealed that her son was arrested at the airport and jailed after authorities discovered that the documents he was using were fake.
Since that day, communication with the woman stopped completely. She blocked Marry’s phone number and disappeared.
Now helpless and devastated, Marry says her situation has become worse. She is appealing to the Kenyan government and relevant authorities to intervene and help secure her son’s freedom, while also urging parents to be very careful when trusting people with job opportunities abroad.
