Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is at the center of national attention following his removal as Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General, a position now held in an acting capacity by Catherine Omanyo.
Sifuna’s dismissal came after he openly opposed ODM party leader Oburu Odinga’s decision to back President William Ruto in the 2027 elections.
Despite the setback, Sifuna has maintained a strong stance, prompting supporters across the country to rally behind him with chants like “Sisi ndio Sifuna.”
Linda Mwananchi Campaign and Rally Preparations
The senator is now spearheading the Linda Mwananchi campaign, positioning it as an alternative to the ODM leader’s grassroots initiatives.
His first major rally in Kitengela town drew massive crowds, signaling strong support for his movement. The next rally is scheduled for tomorrow in Kakamega, where expectations are high for another significant turnout.
Attack on Campaign Truck
As preparations for the Kakamega rally continued, a campaign truck branded with Linda Mwananchi visuals was damaged en route. Occupants of the vehicle were engaged in conversation when an object struck the front screen, leaving it cracked.
Sifuna responded swiftly, reaffirming his determination to continue with the Kakamega rally. “We must get to Kakamega,” he vowed, signaling his commitment to reaching supporters despite the incident.
The attack has sparked discussions on the intensity of political competition in Kenya ahead of the 2027 elections, highlighting both the passion of supporters and the risks involved in active campaigning.
