Wiper Offers ODM’s Edwin Sifuna a Political Lifeline

Just hours after being ousted as ODM Secretary General, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has reportedly been extended an “escape route” by the Wiper Patriotic Front.

Sifuna, 43, served as ODM’s longest-standing Secretary General, holding the position for eight years since 2018.

His removal came during a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting chaired by party leader Dr. Oburu Oginga on Wednesday.

As Sifuna contemplates his next political move ahead of the 2027 elections, Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo has publicly invited him to join Wiper, the party led by former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.

The invitation follows a social media post by Kalonzo showing himself alongside Sifuna shortly after the Nairobi senator’s ouster.

Observers suggest that joining Wiper could offer Sifuna a fresh platform and political backing as he seeks re-election.

However, questions remain about whether switching parties aligns with his long-term political strategy and loyalty to ODM’s base.

Sifuna’s next steps are expected to significantly influence his political trajectory as the 2027 general elections approach.
