Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has dismissed reports linking him and his allies to the registration of a new political party named Linda Mwananchi.
In a statement shared on his social media pages on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Amisi clarified that neither he nor leaders associated with the Linda Mwananchi movement had applied to register any political party.
He described the reports as misleading and aimed at creating confusion within the opposition.
Recent claims had suggested that an application was submitted to the Registrar of Political Parties to reserve the name “Linda Mwananchi.”
The name has widely been associated with a vocal faction within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) that has publicly questioned the party’s recent political direction.
The Linda Mwananchi wing is linked to several prominent leaders, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, who have previously raised concerns about ODM’s working relationship with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
However, Amisi emphasized that the group has no involvement in any party registration process and urged supporters to ignore the speculation. He called on members to remain focused on strengthening and reforming ODM from within.
The developments come at a time when ODM is experiencing visible internal disagreements ahead of the 2027 General Election.
On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, ODM lawmakers held a parliamentary group meeting at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi to address emerging tensions within the party.
Among those present was Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, who called for unity and a clear roadmap moving forward.
As political realignments continue to take shape ahead of 2027, attention now turns to how ODM will manage its internal differences while preparing for the next electoral contest.
