Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka briefly paused his speech in Bahati Constituency, Nakuru County, after an excited crowd erupted into loud chants moments after he mentioned President William Ruto.
Kalonzo was addressing residents at Heshima Grounds when he shifted his focus to the 2027 General Election. As he spoke about the opposition’s intention to challenge the current administration, the mood among the supporters quickly changed.
The crowd began chanting “Wantam,” a slogan increasingly used by critics of the government to suggest that President Ruto should only serve one term in office.
Sensing the charged atmosphere, the Wiper Party leader leaned into the moment and asked the gathering to raise their hands if they agreed with the chant. The response was overwhelming. Supporters waved their hands, whistled, and shouted back in unison.
He then called on the DJ to play the popular “Wantam” song, further energizing the rally. Music filled the air as supporters danced and sang along, temporarily drowning out his speech.
For several minutes, Kalonzo stepped back, smiling and occasionally joining the chorus as the crowd celebrated the moment.
The rally later resumed once calm returned, but the brief interruption highlighted the growing political energy ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
The event in Nakuru reflected the boldness of opposition supporters who are increasingly vocal about their political expectations as the country slowly enters campaign mode.
