Junet Mohammed Affirms ODM Will Remain in Broad-Based Government Despite Sifuna Faction Pressure

Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, a firm supporter of President William Ruto and the broad-based government, has rebuffed calls from the Edwin Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi faction of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to exit the coalition.

Speaking during the Eid al-Fitr luncheon at State House, Kisumu, as quoted by blogger Douglas Marigiri, Junet stressed that ODM will continue to be part of the broad-based government and support President Ruto in the 2027 general elections.

He insisted that regardless of the actions or protests by the Sifuna-led faction, the party will remain in government.

“Whether they cry, sit down, stand up, sleep, or wake up, ODM will not leave the broad-based government and will stand with President William Ruto in the next elections,” Junet stated.

The remarks underscore ongoing internal debates within ODM over its alignment in the government and ahead of the next polls.

Junet’s statement signals a firm commitment to the ruling coalition, dismissing dissenting voices within the party.
