Kithure Kindiki has told Kenyans not to protest over the rising fuel prices, saying demonstrations will not solve the problem.
Speaking at Emining Shopping Centre in Mogotio Constituency, Kindiki criticized Rigathi Gachagua for asking people to go to the streets.
Kindiki explained that fuel prices are mainly controlled by global factors such as oil supply and demand, exchange rates, and international conflicts. He said these are things Kenya cannot control, so protests will not change anything.
He assured citizens that the government led by William Ruto is working hard to reduce the burden of high fuel costs.
He mentioned efforts like negotiating better oil import deals and strengthening the Kenyan shilling.
Kindiki also warned leaders against using the issue for politics.
He asked them to support government plans and help ease the situation instead of encouraging protests.
His remarks come at a time when many Kenyans are struggling with the high cost of living. Even so, Kindiki said the government is focused on finding lasting solutions and helping citizens cope with the situation.
