Senator Dan Maanzo Accuses Ruto Government of Shielding Corrupt Officials in Top Appointments

Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo has strongly criticised President William Ruto’s administration, accusing it of allowing corruption to thrive within government structures.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV’s DayBreak show, Maanzo questioned why individuals facing corruption allegations continue to be appointed to senior government positions.

He argued that such decisions send the wrong signal to Kenyans and undermine efforts to fight corruption.

“What is the President telling the country by appointing someone who should be prosecuted for corruption?” Maanzo posed.

The senator also weighed in on the attempted impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, alleging that there were claims of Ksh10 million being distributed to senators to influence the process.

He questioned whether the alleged funds were used as bribery to advance political interests, saying that if proven true, it would indicate deep-rooted corruption within the government system.

Maanzo further alleged that some individuals with questionable integrity have been appointed to the Cabinet, arguing that this reflects ongoing governance challenges in the current administration.

He warned that such actions risk eroding public trust in government institutions, urging leaders to uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability.
His remarks are expected to intensify political debate in the country as leaders continue to clash over corruption and governance issues.

The government has in the past denied similar allegations, maintaining that all appointments follow due process and reaffirming its commitment to fighting corruption.

The debate continues as Kenyans closely watch developments and demand greater transparency from their leaders.
