The National Police Service (NPS) has warned Nairobi residents about possible flooding due to ongoing heavy rains.

Several areas are at risk, including Kileleshwa, Ngara, Kibra, Kasarani, Lang’ata, Madaraka, Eastleigh, and Kawangware. The police say that rising water levels in major rivers are the main cause of concern. Rivers such as the Nairobi River, Ngong River, Mathare River, Kamiti River, and Athi River are already full and could overflow at any time.

People living near these rivers are at a higher risk and are being urged to stay alert. The NPS, together with other emergency teams, is closely monitoring the situation and is ready to respond if needed.

Residents are advised to move to safer, higher areas if necessary and to avoid walking or driving through floodwaters. The police also warned that roads may become dangerous due to flooding and poor visibility, increasing the risk of accidents.

Overall, the warning is a reminder for everyone to stay cautious and prepared as the heavy rains continue.
