Nandi County Senator Kiprotich Cherargei has dismissed the reported turnout of the Linda Mwananchi movement in Kisumu, claiming that images circulating online from the rally were generated using artificial intelligence.
Cherargei further stated that Oburu Odinga, who he described as the political kingpin of the Luo community, is expected to rally support for President William Ruto in the upcoming general election.
However, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership has responded strongly, with party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna urging Kisumu residents to support the Linda Mwananchi movement, which he said is committed to protecting the political legacy of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Speaking during his visit to Kisumu, Sifuna also dismissed remarks attributed to Oburu Odinga suggesting that Raila had distanced himself from him politically.
Sifuna questioned those claims, pointing out his involvement in official arrangements following Raila’s death.
“If Raila was really fed up with me, why did they send me to go and receive his body from India?” he asked, casting doubt on the narrative being pushed by his critics.
The exchange highlights rising tensions within ODM as different factions position themselves around Raila Odinga’s political legacy, with leaders trading sharp public statements ahead of the 2027 political season.
