"Not Kalonzo or Matiang'i," Jubilee Party Changes Tune Ahead of 2027 Elections, Allegedly Names Preferred Presidential Candidate

The Jubilee Party has once again found itself at the center of political debate after remarks attributed to its Secretary General, Jeremiah Kioni, appeared to signal a different position on the party's preferred presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 General Election.... WATCH THE VIDEO HERE.

Speaking on Sunday, Kioni allegedly made remarks that surprised many Kenyans after suggesting that former President Uhuru Kenyatta would be the strongest candidate capable of defeating President William Ruto in the next presidential race.

According to statements attributed to the Jubilee Party Secretary General, Kioni criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his apparent support for former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka as the opposition's presidential flag bearer.

He reportedly argued that, in Jubilee's view, Kalonzo is not the most suitable candidate to lead the country.

Kioni allegedly went on to claim that if Kenyans believe any of the current opposition leaders can easily unseat President William Ruto in 2027, they may be mistaken.

Instead, he reportedly maintained that former President Uhuru Kenyatta remains the opposition figure with the greatest ability to attract enough support to defeat the incumbent.

The remarks have sparked widespread reactions online, particularly because Jubilee had previously endorsed former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i as its preferred presidential candidate.

Kioni's latest comments have therefore left many Kenyans questioning whether the party has changed its strategy ahead of the highly anticipated 2027 elections.

As political realignments continue to take shape, many observers are now waiting to see whether Jubilee Party will officially clarify its position regarding its preferred presidential candidate or whether the remarks reflect a new political direction.
