The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has dismissed claims by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula that Members of Parliament collect teacher recruitment slots at State House.
TSC Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia said the commission does not issue teacher employment slots to MPs or any other individuals outside its established recruitment procedures.
She explained that teacher recruitment is conducted through a transparent, merit-based process guided by the commission’s policies and available vacancies.
The commission’s response followed remarks by Wetang’ula alleging that MPs are summoned to State House to collect slots for teacher recruitment.
Wetang’ula made the claims while discussing concerns over the distribution of employment opportunities and the role of State House in public appointments.
The TSC maintained that all applicants are assessed according to set qualifications and that recruitment is carried out through officially advertised vacancies.
The commission also urged members of the public to rely on official communication and avoid claims that could undermine confidence in the teacher recruitment process.
The dispute comes amid continued public interest in teacher employment opportunities, particularly as schools face staffing shortages and thousands of trained teachers seek employment.
TSC has continued to warn applicants against fraudsters who promise jobs in exchange for money, urging them to report suspicious recruitment activities through official channels.
