Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara has called on President William Ruto’s administration to focus more on delivering services to Kenyans instead of spending too much time responding to political criticism.
Kihara made the remarks while commenting on the government’s response to growing criticism from opposition leaders and other political figures.
According to Kihara, the administration should concentrate on addressing issues affecting ordinary Kenyans and demonstrating its record through what it delivers.
Her comments come amid increasing political debate ahead of the 2027 General Election, with government and opposition leaders frequently exchanging criticism.
President Ruto has previously said his administration has faced criticism partly because government leaders have not done enough to communicate its achievements. He has urged his supporters to defend the government’s record and explain its development programmes to the public.
Kihara, however, has continued to publicly question some aspects of the administration. In previous remarks, she criticised the government over its handling of political disagreements and other national issues.
The Naivasha MP's latest comments add to the wider political debate as leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
With political alliances continuing to change, statements from both government and opposition figures are expected to remain a major part of Kenya’s political discussion in the months ahead.
