Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has revealed that he quietly aligned himself with the People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) in 2024, long before publicly taking over an active role in the party.
Nyoro said he chose to keep his political move private as he watched developments in the country before deciding when to make the information public.
Speaking during an interview with Meru FM on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, the lawmaker said his decision to associate with PPK was made in 2024.
Nyoro also described PPK as one of Kenya’s oldest political parties, saying it was established in 1996. He argued that the party predates many of the political parties currently operating in the country.
The MP said newer parties should recognise the long history of PPK, which he referred to as a political “grandfather” to many of them.
Nyoro’s revelation comes after he moved away from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and became increasingly involved in PPK activities.
He has since taken an active role in the party, including welcoming politicians seeking to contest under its banner ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The lawmaker has also been conducting grassroots activities as he seeks to expand PPK’s presence beyond his political base.
