President William Ruto is set to begin a four-day tour of Luo Nyanza on Sunday, September 13, as he steps up government activities and political engagements in the region.
The tour will take the President through Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay and Migori counties before ending on Wednesday, September 16.
Ruto will begin the visit in Kisumu, where he is expected to attend a church service before inspecting and commissioning several government projects. The first day will mainly focus on infrastructure, urban development and other ongoing government programmes.
On Monday, the President will travel to Siaya, where he is expected to launch and inspect development projects while meeting local leaders and residents.
The tour will then move to Homa Bay on Tuesday. Ruto is expected to inspect government projects and address residents during his engagements in the county.
The final day will be spent in Migori, where the President is expected to launch new projects, inspect completed developments and meet residents.
The visit comes at a time when political activity is increasing across the country ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Luo Nyanza remains an important political region, having traditionally supported the opposition. However, the political landscape has changed following the cooperation between Ruto's UDA and ODM.
The President's repeated visits to the region have focused on development projects while also giving him an opportunity to strengthen his relationship with local leaders and residents.
The latest tour is therefore expected to attract both development and political attention as different political groups continue preparing for the 2027 elections.
