Mining Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho has sent a condolence message to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga family following the death of Beryl Achieng’ Odinga.

The statement, released on Wednesday, comes as the Odinga family continues to deal with a series of personal losses.

Beryl, a sister to the late Raila Amolo Odinga, died barely a month after the ODM leader’s passing.

Joho described the news as a deep and painful blow to the family, noting that the loss comes at a time when they are still mourning Raila’s death.

In his message, he emphasized that Beryl’s passing had touched many Kenyans who admired her character and the role she played within her family and community.

He noted that her death had stirred sadness among those who knew her.

According to Joho, Beryl will be remembered as a woman of calm strength and compassion. He said she carried herself with quiet grace and had a positive impact on the people around her.

The Cabinet Secretary added that her absence would be felt widely, particularly among family members still grappling with consecutive bereavements.

The Odinga family has been receiving condolence messages from across the political spectrum as Kenyans react to the death of another family member.

Raila, a central figure in Kenya’s politics for decades, passed away a month ago, prompting national mourning and widespread tributes. Beryl’s death has reopened wounds for a family already navigating immense grief.

In his message, Joho assured the Odinga family of his prayers and solidarity during this period. He urged them to find strength and comfort as they continue to mourn both Beryl and Raila.

“May the Almighty God grant you the strength and solace to bear the loss,” he wrote.
