The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) has dismissed a viral letter circulating online claiming that party leader Eugene Wamalwa had been removed from his position.
The document, shared widely across social media platforms, alleged that the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) held an emergency meeting and resolved to expel Wamalwa and immediately replace him.
However, in a firm rebuttal, DAP-K labelled the letter fake and deliberately misleading, clarifying that no NEC meeting took place and no leadership changes had been sanctioned.
According to the party, the document was crafted to create tension within DAP-K and mislead the public about its internal affairs.
The forged statement went as far as proposing Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya as the new party leader and Ayub Savula as his deputy—claims the party flatly denied. It also carried a falsified signature allegedly belonging to Seth Panyako, named in the fake document as Acting Secretary General.
DAP-K reiterated that its leadership structure remains unchanged, and any official party communication will be channelled only through verified platforms.
Governor Natembeya also condemned the fake letter, accusing certain pro-government actors of orchestrating the misinformation campaign to destabilise the party ahead of upcoming political contests.
“This letter is being circulated by UDA members who know we are close to winning the Malava parliamentary seat,” Natembeya alleged.
“It is a calculated attempt to distract our people. Ignore it completely—we are focused, and we are winning the Malava seat.”
The party has urged supporters to remain vigilant against falsified political documents and to rely only on official DAP-K statements.
