Jubilee Party has welcomed over 100 new members on Wednesday, a development Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni described as a sign of renewed public confidence in the party’s leadership.
Kioni said the influx of supporters reflects Kenyans’ desire for focused and accountable governance.
“Today, we proudly welcomed over 100 new members joining the Jubilee family, proof that Kenyans are regaining faith in focused, accountable leadership,” Kioni stated on his official X account.
He added that the growth strengthens the party’s voice as it continues to champion reforms and hold the government accountable.
However, the celebration was tempered by sharp criticism of the government’s handling of the education sector.
The recent university lecturers’ strike, called off on Wednesday, highlighted ongoing challenges in paying arrears to academic staff.
Kioni said the strike and the rising costs for senior secondary school are clear signs of mismanagement.
“University lecturers were on strike over unpaid arrears, and instead of solving it, the government now wants parents to pay Ksh 53,554 for senior secondary school. Students are out of class. Parents are overburdened. Lecturers are unpaid. This is not reform—it’s failure,” Kioni said.
He demanded that the government immediately release pending payments to university lecturers and ensure full transparency in implementing education policies.
Kioni emphasized that the crisis affects not just students and parents, but the entire nation’s future.
Jubilee, once part of the ruling coalition, has recently positioned itself as a strong opposition voice, calling out the government on governance, economic, and social issues.
Kioni said the party’s growing membership demonstrates that Kenyans are increasingly looking to alternative leadership that prioritizes service delivery and accountability.
