ODM youth leader Kasmuel McCoure has expressed strong confidence in the party’s performance as voters in several constituencies and wards head to the polls today.
In a statement shared on X, McCoure praised the party’s campaign efforts and urged ODM candidates to maintain discipline and focus throughout the voting process.
The by-elections are taking place in Magarini, Ugunja, Kasipul, Kariobangi North Ward in Nairobi, and Purko Ward in Narok.
The seats fell vacant following a series of electoral petitions, resignations, and administrative changes.
The contests have drawn significant national attention, with major parties deploying teams in the final days of campaigning.
McCoure applauded the ODM campaign machinery, describing it as resilient despite what he termed “difficult times.”
He conveyed confidence that the party could secure victories across all five seats.
His remarks reflect ODM’s ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilisation, particularly in regions where the party has historically held influence.
In his message, McCoure singled out the five ODM candidates: Harrison Kombe (Magarini), Moses Omondi (Ugunja), Boyd Were (Kasipul), Michael Ouma Majua (Kariobangi North), and Daniel Naikuni (Purko).
He encouraged them to remain “courageous” and committed to public service as residents cast their ballots. ODM describes the by-elections as an opportunity to reinforce its representation ahead of future national political realignments.
Voting is being overseen by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), which has deployed polling officials, security teams, and monitoring staff to ensure a transparent and orderly process.
Police in the affected areas have indicated that security measures are in place, with officers stationed at polling centres throughout the day.
The by-elections come against a backdrop of heightened political activity as parties test their organisational strength mid-cycle.
IEBC is expected to begin announcing provisional results after the close of polling stations.
