ODM’s youth wing has thrown its weight behind Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga following her confirmation as the party’s National Chairperson.

The endorsement came from ODM Youth Leader Kasmuel McOure, who praised Wanga’s leadership and called on party members to unite behind her vision.

“Mighty proud of you on your confirmation, Your Excellency. You have steered the party with unwavering dedication, and we can’t wait to see the heights you will take it. We remain committed to consolidating our gains and strengthening our movement. Heko!” McOure said in a statement shared on social media.

Wanga’s confirmation occurred during a Special Session of the National Governing Council in Mombasa, where party officials also ratified Senator Dr. Oburu Oginga as Party Leader.

Oburu’s deputies include Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, Kisii governor Paul Simba Arati, and Vihiga senator Godfrey Osotsi.

The session further confirmed other senior party officials: Otiende Amollo and John Ariko as Deputy National Chairpersons, Wajir governor Ahmed Abdullahi as National Organizing Secretary, Ruth Odinga as Deputy Organizing Secretary, and Rozaah Buyu as Secretary for Political Affairs.

These appointments form part of the party’s broader leadership restructuring following the death of Raila Odinga, who had served as ODM leader for decades.

McOure highlighted that the youth wing would play a central role in supporting Wanga’s agenda, particularly in strengthening the party’s grassroots operations across counties.

He emphasized that the confirmation of experienced leaders like Wanga provides continuity and stability at a time when the party is navigating a critical phase ahead of national electoral cycles.

ODM has historically relied on a strong youth base for mobilisation and political campaigns, and McOure’s statement underscores the strategic role the youth will continue to play in sustaining the party’s influence.

As the party consolidates its leadership team, Wanga and the new officials are expected to focus on internal organisation, membership engagement, and preparation for upcoming political processes, with the youth wing positioned as a key driver of outreach and mobilisation.
