Natembeya Joins National Leaders in Paying Tribute to Former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has joined political leaders across the country in mourning the death of former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo, who died in a road accident along the Nakuru–Naivasha Highway on Saturday morning.

In a message posted on X, Natembeya said Jirongo’s death was a major loss to his family, the people of Lugari Constituency, and the country at large. 

He described the former legislator as a prominent national figure whose public service record left a lasting mark on Kenya’s political landscape.

Jirongo previously represented Lugari Constituency and was active in national politics for several years. 

During his time in public life, he was known for his involvement in debates on governance and development, particularly issues affecting ordinary citizens and regional representation.

In his statement, Natembeya said Jirongo had demonstrated consistent commitment to public service and national unity. 

He added that Kenya had lost a leader whose influence extended beyond his constituency and into broader national affairs.

According to information shared by leaders and authorities following the incident, the former MP died after being involved in a fatal road accident on the busy Nakuru–Naivasha Highway. 

Details surrounding the crash have not been publicly expanded, and no additional official statement has been issued regarding the circumstances of the accident.

Natembeya extended his condolences to Jirongo’s immediate family, friends, and residents of Lugari, noting that the loss would be deeply felt both locally and nationally. 

He also conveyed a message of comfort to those mourning, calling for unity during the period of grief.
