Former Nyakach MP Odoyo Owidi has warned that relying on Homa Bay women representative Gladys Wanga and her ODM faction is risky, accusing them of prioritizing personal gains over President William Ruto’s re-election.

In a statement on X, Owidi claimed Wanga and allies, including Junet Mohamed, focus on protecting their political interests rather than supporting broader coalitions.

He noted that they publicly praise Raila Odinga while having previously undermined his presidential bids in Luo-land.

“President Ruto’s re-election isn’t even their third priority; they operate on the belief that they can negotiate a post-election coalition with whoever wins,” Owidi said.

The former MP also alleged that Wanga uses her position for personal protection, leveraging police and government officers against perceived political rivals.

He cited her conflicts with Dr. Raymond Omollo, himself, Oyugi Magwanga, and Nyandiko Ongadi as examples of her divisive tactics.

Owidi warned coalition partners that depending on Wanga’s faction to deliver the Luo vote is “as dangerous as allowing a monkey to pull you up a ten-storey building with a rope.”
