‘He’s Not the Legit Leader!’ Saboti MP Calls Out Oburu Odinga After Raila’s Death

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has questioned the leadership of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) following the death of longtime party leader Raila Odinga.

Amisi insists that Oburu Odinga is not the legitimate leader of the party, claiming he assumed the position without following the party’s constitutional procedures.

Speaking during a local podcast aired on Saturday, Amisi argued that the ODM constitution clearly outlines how a new party leader should be elected.

According to him, these procedures were ignored when Oburu Odinga was appointed shortly after Raila’s death.

Amisi explained that the party constitution mandates a Special National Delegates Conference to elect a new leader.

He noted that no such conference has taken place, and instead, Oburu Odinga was installed without following the proper process.

“The party has deputy leaders who should step in as acting leaders in the absence of the party head. There was no leadership vacuum to justify such a rushed move,” Amisi said.

He also criticized the speed of Oburu Odinga’s appointment, noting it was made in less than a day after Raila’s passing, without any declared emergency.

The lawmaker’s remarks have sparked debates among ODM supporters and political analysts, raising questions about the party’s internal democracy and adherence to its own rules.

As the party navigates this transitional period, many are waiting to see whether a Special National Delegates Conference will be convened to formally elect a new leader in line with party regulations.
