Mukurweini MP John Kaguchia has accused President William Ruto of attempting to buy political loyalty in the Mt Kenya region, just hours after the President met over 17,000 residents at Sagana State Lodge.
Speaking to the media, Kaguchia dismissed the enthusiastic reception Ruto received, saying it does not reflect a shift in political allegiance.
“We know that the President is dishing out money in an attempt to buy loyalty. But we’re telling him that the mountain has moved on. No amount of cajoling will change the minds of residents,” Kaguchia said.
During the Sagana meeting, President Ruto promised to complete all development projects initiated by former President Uhuru Kenyatta and assured the region that it will not be abandoned in favor of other areas lacking political significance. He also cautioned against tribal politics, emphasizing that it has no place in modern Kenya.
Kaguchia’s statement comes amid growing concerns over the non-grading of students at KSL in the 2025 KCSE examinations, which he says needs urgent explanation.
The MP called on the relevant authorities to provide clarity, linking the issue to broader questions of governance and accountability in the region.
