Kisii Woman Rep Aburi Calls Out Winnie Odinga Over Alleged Job Ambitions, Sparks Social Media Debate

Kisii County Woman Representative Donya Dorice Aburi has ignited political controversy after posting a scathing critique of Winnie Odinga on her official Facebook page. In the post, Aburi accused Winnie of letting personal ambition overshadow principle in her recent political maneuvers.

Aburi alleged that Winnie reportedly approached President William Ruto seeking a Cabinet Secretary position for Foreign Affairs, only to be turned down. She further claimed that Winnie then requested to head the Ministry of Tourism but was again refused.

According to Aburi, the President later offered her a Principal Secretary role, which Winnie allegedly declined, insisting on a Cabinet-level post. Aburi suggested that this series of rejections explains Winnie’s recent political posture.

The Kisii Woman Representative also brought Winnie’s family dynamics into the discussion, asserting that Winnie is displeased with her uncle, ODM leader Dr. Oburu Odinga, for not aggressively lobbying for her to secure a senior government role.

Aburi used the post to caution Winnie against unrealistic expectations, emphasizing that political goodwill is personal and cannot be inherited. She noted that the late Prime Minister Raila Odinga was President Ruto’s ally, not Winnie’s, and therefore no favors were owed.

Aburi urged Winnie to take a step back and avoid impulsive political behavior, warning against letting frustration dictate public actions.

Her statements drew mixed reactions online: supporters praised her candidness, while critics argued that internal disputes should be handled privately rather than on social media.

This exchange highlights the ongoing tension around ambition, leadership, and political legacy within Kenya, particularly among circles linked to the Odinga family and the ODM. It also underscores the growing role of social media as a platform for airing political disputes publicly.
