Sources familiar with President William Ruto’s political strategy suggest that he is set to launch a new initiative aimed at countering the growing influence of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in the Mount Kenya region.
According to the plan, a specialized team drawn from the offices of both the President and Deputy President has been tasked with compiling a detailed inventory of all national government projects in the area.
The list is expected to indicate which projects are complete, stalled, or yet to begin, along with their exact locations.
Once the list is finalized, President Ruto is reportedly planning to personally tour these project sites. The visits would include groundbreaking ceremonies, launching completed projects, and announcing the revival of stalled initiatives.
The approach focuses on directly engaging residents at project sites rather than holding large rallies.
Senator Kithure Kindiki is also believed to be assigned to oversee areas where the President may not be able to visit personally.
The messaging during these "development tours" will reportedly center on showcasing progress and countering negative narratives about the President, rather than directly promoting his reelection bid.
The strategy appears designed to highlight Ruto’s development agenda on the ground, using completed and ongoing projects as evidence of government delivery, while addressing criticisms from political opponents.
