DCI Arrests Brothers Over KSh 5 Billion Land Fraud in Nakuru

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested two brothers accused of fraudulently claiming ownership of a 4,296-acre piece of land in Nakuru County valued at KSh 5 billion.

Investigators revealed that the land was originally purchased over 40 years ago from Class Kenya Farming Limited Settlement Fund Trustees for KSh 5 million, with proper documentation dated June 13, 1977.

The brothers, who worked as farm managers on the property, allegedly used forged documents to assert ownership, claiming it belonged to their late father.

Following extensive investigations, the case was forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), which approved charges including conspiracy to commit a felony, forgery, forcible detainer, giving false information to a public servant, and false swearing.

The suspects appeared before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Nakuru, pleaded not guilty, and were released on bond of KSh 2 million with similar sureties or cash bail of KSh 1 million each.

DCI emphasized that the arrests demonstrate the agency’s commitment to combating land fraud and protecting the rights of lawful landowners.

This case follows a similar arrest last month involving the alleged fraudulent acquisition of KSh 200 million land in Karen, Nairobi, where forged deeds were used to claim ownership.
