Speculation as Top Politician Reveals Malala’s Health Condition, Kenyans React

Former Deputy President and Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has sparked discussion online after speaking about the health and commitment of party member Cleophas Malala.

While addressing questions about Malala’s recent absence from key DCP events, Gachagua described him as a strong and disciplined leader. He recalled an incident that happened during the Kakamega Malala Super Cup, where Malala reportedly fell seriously ill.

According to Gachagua, despite his condition, Malala only asked for a short rest before resuming his political duties. He said this showed Malala’s dedication to both his people and the party.

“Malala is a determined leader. Even when he was very sick, he rested briefly and then returned to work,” Gachagua said.

His remarks come at a time when many supporters have been questioning why Malala has not been seen at recent DCP events, including an important strategic meeting held in Mombasa. This has led to widespread speculation on social media about his health and role within the party.

Some political observers believe Gachagua’s statement was meant to calm tensions and reassure supporters that Malala remains a key figure in the party despite keeping a low profile.

Meanwhile, DCP’s organizing secretary Mithika Linturi has continued leading party preparations ahead of the 2027 general election as Malala remains out of the public spotlight.

Following Gachagua’s comments, Kenyans took to social media to share mixed reactions. While some praised Malala’s resilience, others called for more transparency regarding his health and future political involvement.

As the 2027 elections draw closer, attention is expected to remain on Malala, with many keen to see whether he will return more actively to the political scene.
