Former Meru Woman Representative Florence Kajuju has laid her husband, David Gitonga, to rest in Kabuline village, Mbeu Ward, following his battle with illness. Gitonga passed away while receiving treatment at a Nairobi hospital.
His passing drew condolences from several political leaders and community members across the country.
The Meru Governor expressed his sympathies on social media, describing Gitonga’s death as tragic and promising that the county government would support the bereaved family. He remembered Gitonga as a humble man who deeply loved his wife.
MP Aburi, who attended the burial, described the late Gitonga as a pillar of his family and the community. Homabay Governor Gladys Wanga, also present, sent her condolences and called on Kenyans to keep the family in their prayers.
Community members who spoke during the funeral highlighted Gitonga’s kindness and generosity, noting that he had a reputation for working well with others and contributing positively to his community.
The burial marked an emotional farewell to a respected figure whose legacy of humility and service is expected to be remembered by family, friends, and the wider Meru community.
