IEBC Opens 12,520 Temporary Positions Ahead of Voter Registration Drive

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced the opening of 12,520 temporary positions for voter registration clerks, registration assistants, and ICT clerks across Kenya.

This recruitment is in preparation for a 30-day Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise aimed at ensuring all eligible Kenyans can register and participate in the 2027 general elections.

The announcement has sparked excitement, particularly among youth and unemployed graduates, who view the roles not only as a source of income but also as an opportunity to serve their communities.

The IEBC has, however, cautioned applicants against falling for fake adverts circulating online, emphasizing that only applications submitted through the official IEBC channels will be accepted.

These temporary positions are crucial in taking voter registration services closer to citizens at the ward level, making it easier for Kenyans in every county to register.

For many young applicants, the recruitment represents both a financial opportunity and a chance to actively strengthen democratic participation.

To apply, interested candidates must submit their applications online via the official IEBC jobs portal.

The commission warns that engaging with unauthorized intermediaries may lead to disqualification, highlighting the need for vigilance.

As the application deadline nears, thousands of Kenyans are rushing to submit their forms, eager to participate in this high-impact electoral process.

The big question remains whether this recruitment will successfully expand voter participation or if challenges such as misinformation and logistical hurdles will affect the drive.
