ODM Unveils 2027 Game Plan with Nationwide Recruitment Drive and Youth Mobilisation Push

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has rolled out a new strategy aimed at strengthening its position ahead of the 2027 General Election, focusing on recruiting candidates and expanding its youth support base.

In resolutions announced on May 4, the party directed its leadership to begin a nationwide search for aspirants interested in vying for various elective seats under the ODM ticket. The move is intended to streamline nominations and ensure the party fields strong candidates across the country.

At the same time, ODM is targeting young people by planning to establish active party chapters in universities and colleges. The party also aims to work closely with youth organisations to increase its influence among students and young voters.

Party officials said the initiative is meant to build a stronger grassroots network while tapping into the growing youth population, which is expected to play a key role in the 2027 elections.

ODM also raised concerns over delayed funding for political parties, claiming the government owes it billions of shillings. Leaders argued that timely release of these funds is important for proper party operations and preparations ahead of the polls.

In addition to political plans, the party reaffirmed its commitment to social welfare programs. It proposed increasing support for vulnerable groups, including raising the monthly stipend for the elderly from KSh2,000 to KSh6,000, and offering more help to widows, single mothers, and low-income families.

The strategy comes about 14 months before the next general election, signaling ODM’s early preparations as it seeks to strengthen its influence and position itself for a return to power.
