Former nominated senator Millicent Omanga has denied a viral Gazette notice claiming that she had been appointed to a government board.
Omanga dismissed the document circulating online, saying it did not represent a genuine new appointment.
The issue attracted attention after the notice circulated on social media, with some Kenyans questioning whether Omanga had been given a fresh position in the government.
However, official records show that Omanga previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of Kenya Shipyards Limited. She was appointed to the board for a three-year term beginning January 14, 2025.
That appointment was later revoked by the Cabinet Secretary for Defence, with the revocation taking effect on April 30, 2026.
The latest controversy therefore comes amid questions over the authenticity and timing of the document being shared online.
Omanga's denial is expected to put to rest claims that she had received a fresh government appointment through the viral notice.
The incident also highlights the need to verify official government documents before sharing them, particularly when they involve appointments to public institutions.
