Sarah Wairimu Kamotho, also known as Sarah Wairimu Kamotho Cohen, has been hit with fresh legal troubles after being charged with giving false information to police and swearing a false affidavit about a lost passport.
The charges were read at Kibera High Court, where prosecutors alleged that on February 20, 2023, Wairimu falsely reported her passport missing at Munyange Police Station in Othaya, Nyeri County.
The police abstract she obtained was based on this alleged false claim, according to court records.
On the same day, Wairimu reportedly appeared at Pamki House in Nyeri Town and swore an affidavit before Advocate Muchiri wa Gathoni stating her passport was lost, even though it was not.
These acts have led to her being charged with false swearing under Section 114 as read with Section 36 of the Penal Code.
Wairimu denied both charges when she appeared before Principal Magistrate Zainab Abdul.
She remains in custody at Lang’ata Women’s Prison, where she is already facing trial over the murder of her husband, Tob Cohen.
This latest case adds to the growing spotlight on Wairimu’s legal battles, which have captured public attention due to the high-profile nature of the murder investigation and the ongoing court proceedings.
The next hearing in Wairimu’s case has been set, and she will remain in custody as proceedings continue.
