ODM youth wing member Kasmuel McOure has called for a structured and pragmatic approach to the party’s preparations for the 2027 General Election, emphasizing the need for a constructive partnership with President William Ruto.
In a statement on X, McOure argued that political parties are more than temporary platforms—they serve as instruments of legitimacy, mobilisation, and governance.
He stressed that just as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) depends on loyalty and organised structures, the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) must also be acknowledged as the vehicle that delivered Ruto to the presidency.
“Ambiguity and emotional posturing will not serve ODM in the post-Baba era,” McOure said, highlighting the importance of well-defined strategies and disciplined coalition-building.
He proposed that ODM pursue a pre-election agreement with President Ruto while simultaneously revitalizing its grassroots operations and sustaining active mobilisation across counties.
McOure underscored that successful political coalitions are designed through clear agreements, defined roles, and institutional respect rather than left to chance.
According to him, a public, clearly articulated pre-election plan will give ODM the best chance of securing future presidential success.
The youth leader also addressed the Broad Based Government, calling on ODM leadership to either fully commit to the arrangement or exit decisively.
“If we are committed, we must govern responsibly and present the electorate with demonstrable joint achievements. If not, we should chart an independent course without hesitation,” he said.
McOure further noted that Kenya’s political landscape in the post-Baba period demands clarity and strategic decision-making.
He urged the party to prioritise long-term planning over nostalgia, focusing on strengthening organisational structures and building durable coalitions that can deliver governance results.
